On Monday, February 8, the Blount-Oneonta Chamber of Commerce joined Stephen Hill and the rest of his team to celebrate the grand reopening of Stephen’s Diner. Since closing on March 14, 2020, when the COVID-19 lockdown began, Hill has opened its doors and once again welcomed customers.

“We missed seeing our regular customers. That was the hardest thing,” Hill said.

The restaurant, located at 201 Sixth Street South in Oneonta, has had a facelift during its nearly year-long closure. Hill has been busy sprucing up the dining room with new paint and light fixtures and a gleaming new steamer table has been installed.

Stephen’s is open 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Tuesday and 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Breakfast and dinner are menu only, but lunch guests can choose from the menu or the buffet.

While you’ll still find all your favorite dishes from before, Hill has expanded the options available to include a full line of barbecue specialties. He has spent years working in barbecue restaurants and a few years ago a local barbecue competition inspired him to incorporate barbecue style dishes into the Diner.
