REVIEW: Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser D-Day Breakfast Buffet

Last update:

Day 3 aboard the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is departure day, and just like Disney Cruise Line voyages, disembarkation is bright and early. However, there is time for one last buffet breakfast at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room.

Some of the offerings are the same as Day 2, but there were new intergalactic treats as well.

Buffet breakfast options

Chandrila Star Line waffles, rolled omelettes and roasted sausage

egg and cheese omelette

The Chandrila Star Line branded waffle is also available separately from the sides.

The rolled omelet is a great, unique way to eat eggs instead of the ubiquitous runny scrambled eggs usually found on buffets. The sausage is smoked and very good. We were amazed by the freshness of the waffle, which uses the same batter as the classic Mickey waffles.

Sweet cakes

Blueberry muffin, croissant and sweet brioche with blue milk butter and strawberry jelly

The muffin was good, with a crispy top instead of the typical sticky top you usually get. The croissant was surprisingly good, crispy on top with a delicious tart berry filling. The sweet bun was literally just a bun sprinkled with green sugar. The accompanying blue milk butter was a very light and airy whipped affair, with a consistency more like heavy whipped cream than a buttery spread. Not a buttery taste either, mostly indescribable. The strawberry jelly cube on top was good. It was compressed into a dense cube similar to jellybeans.

Scrambled eggs

These are your typical Disney buffet eggs. These are perhaps the most normal comfort foods you’ll have on the entire trip.

Palmfruit Yogurt Acai Sweet Creamfreeze

Yogurt garnished with quinoa granola and Yuzu jelly

This is a thick Greek yogurt. It’s rather sour and doesn’t have much flavor. It would have been nice if there was at least some vanilla. The fresh berries and granola on top were good and a welcome change from the compressed or freeze dried fruit we had the whole trip.

Compressed fruit platter

Fruit bites sous vide in simple syrup

This is an obvious attempt to make something vaguely look like space. The watermelon had a weird minty taste. The other fruits were not sweet, but we didn’t expect them to be in March. The dried fruits on top were blueberries, which were a nice, sweet side dish. The dragon fruit jelly was weird and not very tasty.

Meat pie for breakfast

Flatbread with cheese, sausage and bacon

It’s meat and cheese without eggs. The sauce is a fairly spicy cilantro based sauce similar to the one we had with the dinner buns on the first day. It was ok but we didn’t like the sauce with it.

Crispy tuber waffle

Apple Bacon Potato Waffle, egg bite with cheddar and egg butter and herb sauce

This has similar ingredients to yesterday’s dish but with an entirely different presentation.

Bacon doesn’t look good and tastes worse. It was disgusting. Yesterday’s rosette was a hundred times better. The egg was the same mushy stuff as yesterday. The potato waffle is a hashbrown from a waffle iron, which is a cool presentation. It was available on the children’s set last night.

Spicy bobotie with red fruit jam

Vegetable egg with tomato jam

It’s basically the same dish you get in Boma, but in a single serving. It wasn’t warm enough here.

meteor egg

Scotch egg batter coated with turmeric aioli

It was fantastic. The egg was perfectly cooked. The coating was light and fluffy. It wasn’t greasy at all.

This was our favorite breakfast dish today. It’s the perfect example of something that sounds weird and interesting but is actually quite normal and tastes good. They need to find that balance in more deals.

Blue and green milk in keg

SWGS blue and green milk on tap

Soft drink

juice bar

The juice bar served cranberry, grapefruit, orange and apple juices.

Espresso, cappuccino and lattes are available on request (you can also order fortified versions for an additional charge).

Take-out breakfast

If you prefer to eat on the go, a packed breakfast is available in the Sublight Lounge on Deck 4.

Decaffeinated and regular coffee can be found here along with takeaway cups.

Orange juice and tea are also available.

Fruits are available, including long fruits (bananas) and Batuuan clementines.

The take-out boxes contain pastries and palm fruit yoghurt.

The boxes have a Chandrila Star Line sticker keeping them closed.

The pastries are similar to those found at the breakfast buffet.

Palm fruit yogurt is also the same.
