Opening of the Black Bear Diner in Pasadena, Texas

Black Bear Diner has announced the opening of its location in Pasadena, Texas. The opening is the first of seven scheduled openings in Texas in 2022 as part of the brand’s larger plan to expand its presence in the Lone Star State.

“We have been very encouraged by the success of our current Texas restaurants and look forward to opening more Texas restaurants, including our latest in Pasadena,” said Anita Adams, CEO of Black Bear Diner. “This opening is a vital part of our expansion into Texas and we are thrilled to welcome the community to our new restaurant.”

The Pasadena Restaurant is located just south of Houston at 3497 E. Sam Houston South Parkway and will operate daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. with over 5,600 square feet, 153 indoor seats and 32 patio seats for guests. Black Bear Diner Pasadena is the second location to incorporate new building features that specifically support offsite activities, including a vestibule with a separate pickup window to accommodate take-out orders and third-party drivers. The adapted store format relieves congestion in the checkout area to preserve the customer experience in the restaurant while allowing for increased offsite business.

In addition to the Pasadena opening, Black Bear Diner plans to meet demand by opening a location along the southern state line in McAllen, as well as locations in San Antonio, outside of Dallas in Mesquite and north of Austin at Harker Heights. The company is also expected to open restaurants in Amarillo and El Paso in conjunction with its franchise partners. Black Bear Diner aims to open all seven Texas locations by the end of October, when the Lone Star State will have the most Black Bear Diner locations outside of its home state of California. The brand also recently opened in Brownsville in October 2021.
