BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. — A historic building in Brownsville is now a restaurant.
The building was once Brownsville’s post office in 1935 and a furniture store in the ’70s. And now it’s home to Livingston’s Soda Fountain and Grill.
Owners Dr. Jack and Glenda Pettigrew say they offer homemade burgers, chicken, and fries, along with a soda fountain and ice cream bar.
Pettigrew says he’s always dreamed of owning a restaurant and is grateful the community has supported him on this journey.
“People stopped the whole time we worked on the building, just wanting to come in and look around,” Jack said. “They were very excited that it was just another option for a place to eat.”
“We really hope it’s going to be a destination that people drive from Jackson, Covington or Memphis and come join us for a meal,” Glenda said.
The restaurant will be open Tuesday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday they will remain open until 9:00 p.m., and on Sunday they will serve a special brunch.
