CEO and Founder of Mango’s Tropical Cafe and local philanthropist, David Wallack, recently returned from a week-long trip to Warsaw, Poland to partner with Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) and Mango’s for a Fundraising for the Ukrainian crisisset for Sunday, June 12and at Mango’s South Beach. Wallack plans to raise an ongoing $1,000,000 to help refugees from the war in Ukraine as well as provide relief and supplies in Ukraine, and presented an initial contribution of $15,000 to Michael Capponi, founder and president of Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) in Warsaw, Poland. This benefit event is in conjunction with the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, Miami Beach Police Athletic League and Cartel Baggers Autotronics.

Wallack’s vision started a month ago when he woke up and said, “We have to do something to help now,” and called Michael Capponi and asked, “What do you need?” Capponi’s response was funds to transport the tons of supplies already donated from GEM’s (Global Empowerment Mission) Miami warehouse to GEM’s warehouse in Warsaw, Poland. GEM also extracts people from the interior of Ukraine to safe havens in Hungary and Poland. To date, GEM has moved over 25,000 refugees out of shelters to cities across Europe. Wallack added: “Having spent a week in Warsaw and seeing the work that GEM does firsthand, and visiting refugee shelters housing thousands of women and children who had lost everything, I can tell you how these funds are important for the essential work of Michael Capponi and GEM, which is to save lives.”

This important fundraising event begins at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 12and with a grand cavalcade, sponsored by Cartel Baggers Autotronics and with a police escort, from 4176 SW 74and.
