Little Brazil Steakhouse, located at 8698 Elk Grove Boulevard, brings an authentic Brazilian experience to the town of Elk Grove with its delicious meats, sides and beverages.
They are open daily for lunch and dinner, but closed on Tuesdays.
Inside the restaurant, murals and bright decorations cover the walls. They apparently transport you to the beautiful countryside of Brazil. Much to my delight, I was immediately greeted by the owner, Ronan Defarias, and his friendly staff. After explaining that it was our first time there, I was told how the dining experience worked. It made the experience much more relaxing.
Plus, they operate on a “pay what you weigh” system, which is exactly what it sounds like. After your plate is filled, it is weighed and the price is revealed. For lunch the cost is $11.99 and dinner is $13.99. It’s very common to eat in Brazil, so the experience is very authentic. Now that you know how to order, let’s get to the food!
Little Brazil serves its food buffet style. In addition, plastic gloves are provided in order to keep everything hygienic. Customers have the choice between a plate to go and a plate on the spot, so there is no pressure to eat inside or outside. The Hot Food section features side dishes, which rotate depending on the day. Hot comfort food is the majority of what will be found. Most importantly, all side dishes are prepared daily and homemade.
“We make everything in house – nothing is ever store bought or frozen.”
Ronan Defarias, owner of Little Brazil Steakhouse
The cold food buffet is full of classics such as the Brazilian potato salad; Pasta salad with red peppers and marinated beets. After this section, the most exciting part is, of course, the meat! The meats are cooked on rotating skewers. Once you are, just point to what you would like to eat. From there, the restaurant owner will slice the desired amount on your plate.
“The way we cut our meat is what makes Brazilian steakhouses so special. We cook ours daily and constantly turn it on the grill”
Ronan Defarias, owner
Although each course was delicious, some of our group’s favorite dishes were the fried plantains, the ruffled pineapple and the spicy red pepper pasta salad. We promise you can’t go wrong with anything you choose to eat!
If you’re in the mood to try something you’ve never had before, then Little Brazil Steakhouse is a must! With fresh sides and meats, everyone in your party is sure to love it. Good dinner !
