When it comes to wondrous structures, humans have literally reached incredible heights. One of these engineering marvels in China has been officially recognized by the Guinness World Records as the world’s tallest restaurant in a building. The Heavenly Jin Restaurant which is inside the J Hotel Shanghai Tower in Shanghai, China is located on the 120th floor of the building. With its height from the ground of 556.36 meters or 1,825 feet, it broke the world record for the tallest restaurant in a building this month. According to a CNN report, the J Hotel Shanghai Tower was opened in 2021 and is believed to be the world’s tallest hotel in a building. Hotel J is located on the upper floors of the tower which sits at a height of 632 meters or approximately 2,000 feet above the ground. This also makes Shanghai Tower the tallest in China and the third tallest in the world.
Speaking of Heavenly Jin Restaurant, it offers visitors an incredible view of the Shanghai skyline. According to Hotel J’s website, the restaurant is a fusion of diverse culinary arts that features modern European, Chinese, and Japanese fine cuisines created by master chefs.
The venue boasts an Italian Silk Road-themed mosaic measuring 30 meters in length to welcome guests. Inside the restaurant, diners are seated “under a sky of ribbon-like crystal lights as they sample delicacies prepared by chefs from around the world,” according to the website.
After receiving the title, Heavenly Jin restaurant would have beaten Dubai’s At.mosphere, which held the record for the world’s tallest restaurant in a building. The At.mosphere is located on level 122 of the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa. It is located at a height of 441.3 meters and had won the title in January 2011, according to Guinness World Records.
However, the Heavenly Jin restaurant was advertised as the tallest in the world but in a building. The highest restaurant in the world is the Bolivian restaurant Chacaltaya, located in the Chacaltaya ski resort at an altitude of 5340 meters.
